About us

DF Conservation blends a passion for perfection with tasteful restraint in its museum quality restoration and conservation of period and contemporary furniture, woodwork, and wooden architectural objects. Attention to detail and a respect for the integrity of a piece during the restoration process allow us to retain its original nature as much as possible. This is part of the guiding philosophy of Founder David Fuentes, whose expertise and influence is showcased in all the work of DF Conservation: “I love the volume and depth of furniture. I am also drawn to the architecture of the object, working with surfaces and shapes, and preserving the patinas so the piece feels and looks its age.”

We abide by the code of ethics and guidelines of the American Institute for Conservation (AIC) and maintain the most demanding conservation standards. We use reversible materials in the restoration process whenever possible. Knowledge of period and style gained from years of experience informs the appropriate treatment for every object, preserving its integrity and value.

We provide a variety of services for collectors, dealers, interior designers, fine arts advisors, and architects. While restoration and conservation are the core of our work, we provide offerings such as custom finishes for contemporary applications. Our professionalism is evident in our craft as well as our responsibility to our clients. We are constantly researching the use of green products and new techniques to satisfy clients’ demands and those of the environment.

Our studio is conveniently located in Red Hook, Brooklyn, New York. By subway or car (see map and details in Contact us).
